ABOUT
The Prism of a Black Male will be a half-day of film, art, and conversation exhibition that harnesses film as a medium. This is done by utilising its ability to create and capture visceral and emotive responses, sparking engaging and insightful discussions on current issues.
We will facilitate a space for this discourse among a diverse audience.
Covering the central themes of Chimaobim Nathan's threefold Directoral debut. Each film opens up, deconstructs and explores the common portrayal of black men instead presenting them as individuals dealing with unique issues across the board.
"Unless something emits light it must reflect light to be seen."

When we’re talking about being seen we’re talking about light but we’re also talking about how that light moves and is reflected, refracted and then received to give proper interpretation of an object.
Its about perception but also direction.

The stories and the genres in which they are shared are the light, film is the medium through which this light will bounce off, and you and I are the source and recipient of this information.
Let's hold space for a moment and allow film to reflect back these stories. Hopefully, these films are encapsulating enough to hold these stories in this moment. For them to be a moment for as long as possible. For you to see all the ways, sll the perspectives, all the possibilities. All the colours, and understand the nuance.
Because maybe it is just as you see it or perhaps it's been augmented by the medium. Maybe what you thought was singular is in fact plural.
